Five Reasons For A Splendid Spring Sale

Five Reasons For A Splendid Spring Sale

You may have heard some people say that summer is the best time to begin your selling journey. School holidays, warm weather, easier to take time away from the office, etc, or do you wait until the autumn when the children have returned to school and the weather is (or at least ought to be) still warm, however people are returning to work and perhaps its not so easy to focus on moving. Well what about winter? Most people try to avoid winter, short daylight hours, its too cold, and of course its a pretty busy period for most throughout December with school nativities, fairs, fetes and carol services etc. That leaves us with Spring! A season of change. The start of new flowers emerging from the ground, the new leaves growing on the trees, new born lambs bouncing in the fields and the morning sun streaming through your windows at breakfast … it all begins in Spring, and that’s exactly when your house sale should too, for a move in the warm summer sun.

Here’s my top 5 reasons for a splendid spring sale.

1. Spring Into Action

Last year brought an unprecedented period of glorious heat, and this year is set to be a blissful repeat. Imagine having to pack, load boxes or dress your home, throughout that heat? Doesn’t sound particularly appealing does it? Now imagine lounging in your new garden with a refreshing drink, or an impromptu get together with friends on the terrace sharing a nice bottle of chilled wine and canapés? Listing your house on the market in Spring will afford you the luxury of a restful and worry free summer in your new home. Go to market in April, sell in May,  and then move in July after all the exams are over and school has broken up; and, you still have time to for a well-deserved holiday to get over it. When you return you will have plenty of time to enjoy your new home and prepare for the new school year.

2. Spring Cleaning Has Meaning

It’s also the time that we start to clean out our homes, cars, wardrobes and cupboards of the old winter items and have a throughly good clean. Well it’s not called a spring clean for nothing. So if you’re thinking of moving this year, there is no better time to begin your moving journey than when you’re spring cleaning. Do that little bit extra and start boxing up those non-essentials. Perhaps you change your family photographs in the frames to more seasonal snaps. So instead of changing them, perhaps think a little less personal and start to style your house ready for viewings. Change the furniture around a bit to show off the room or move it away from the fireplace or television slightly while you’re having the carpets cleaned. Its much easier to box things up while your doing a big clean anyway rather than having to do it twice.

3. The Market Springs to Life

After spending the winter contemplating, buyers act like the crocuses and daffodils and begin to pop up all over the place, bringing a dramatic increase in chance of finding your perfect buyer. Of course, more buyers brings more competition for the right home, leading to not one but possibly several offers on your home, potentially giving you extra funds to move on with. Research from  Zillow, shows that homes listed between March and April sell 15% faster than homes listed at any other time of the year! So if you’ve decided to move, there is no better time to get on the market.

4. Spring Snapshots

Remember last year when the sun beamed on to your home, and filled every room with natural light, and the outside positively glowed? Well spring has the same effect too, only with bright colours of new blossom, lush, rich, green grasses and a clean, fresh fragrance of new life around. It creates an amazing experience within your home that buyers will fall in love with. Natural light will enhance the colours and textures of your home and affords unique opportunity for photographs to be taken that cannot be recreated at any other time of the year. Our professional photographers know just how to capture the light and lifestyle that your home can offer, creating warm and inviting shots to really set you apart from the competition. In addition, it’s always a nicer experience viewing homes in bright, dry weather without the overwhelming heat of the summer.

5. We’ll Spring for the Fizz!

Whilst here at Alexander Gibson we can guarantee exceptional service, bespoke marketing, incredible lifestyle photography and poetic copywriting, we cannot, unfortunately, guarantee good weather. However, planning your move in spring does increase the likelihood of a dry moving day. Waiting until summer to market your home pushes your moving date back to October or November; and, let’s face it, even with the assistance of a hard working removal firm, lifting and shifting damp boxes, soggy children and your muddy pawed friends is never fun. It is far more enjoyable with the fresh fragrance of the garden, glorious sunshine and a mild breeze to keep you cool. And after that last box has been delivered, the beds have been made and you’ve finally figured out which key fits which lock … there’s nothing better than stepping out into the garden and toasting your new new home with a bottle of our favourite Prosecco, that we will deliver to you with our best wishes, so that you can really enjoy the warm summer evening.

So if you have spent the winter considering moving home, there really is no better time to let us help you fulfil this journey in time for the long, hot summer. So why not call us now on 01423 563077 to discuss your plans, and together we can really get you moving.
